Marshawn France, a 15-year-old African American boy, was tragically killed on October 10, 2019, in the West Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred just after 9 p.m. when Marshawn was walking on the sidewalk in the 12400 block of South Michigan Avenue. A vehicle approached him, and someone inside opened fire, striking Marshawn once in the head and once in the side. He was immediately taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy confirmed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Marshawn had just left a friend's house and was on his way to a bus stop when the shooting occurred. He was known for his radiant personality and was the sixth of ten children in a large, close-knit family. Area South detectives are handling the case, but as of now, there have been no significant developments or suspects identified.
