Makei Smith, a 17-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on November 21, 2019, in the Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. in the backyard of a residence located in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue. According to reports, Makei Smith was struck by gunfire in the hip and chest. Despite being rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
