Jeffery L. Carson Jr., a 29-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on December 15, 2019, in DeKalb, Illinois. The incident occurred in the 900 block of West Hillcrest Drive, near Northern Illinois University. Carson was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting took place just before midnight when residents of an apartment complex returned home and were confronted by two armed men demanding money.
