Latif Adeboyejo, age 21 African American male, had been a Northern Illinois University student studying biomedical engineering when he went missing from campus the first weekend of June 2022.
Family, police, even Latif's friends from NIU immediately asked the public for help as posts circulated with his name, age, and the car he was driving, a black 2010 Ford Fusion with Illinois plate CB60681, after he was last seen leaving the NIU campus on Sunday, June 5.
The search stretched into Monday night, with urgency growing as classmates and relatives pleaded for news.

on Tuesday, June 7, officers found Latif Adeboyejo slumped over deceased, in his vehicle in a parking lot near Russell and Greenbrier roads in DeKalb, just off campus.
He appeared to have a single gunshot wound, and investigators recovered a firearm from inside the car.
The discovery ended the frantic search but opened a painful investigation into what had happened and why, as police and the county coroner began their work and the campus community reeled.

Authorities described the case as a death investigation.
Public releases from that week did not announce any arrests, nor did they identify a suspect or suspects, and they asked anyone with information to contact detectives.

Leaving only the haunting evidence behind, a young NIU Microbiology student, found alone in his own vehicle, a short distance from campus. Killed by a single gunshot wound to the head, gun found close by.

Latif Adeboyejo's college mates and family continue to mourn the loss of an aspiring scientist, who's life ended for reasons only known to Latif in that dark desolate parking lot. Sometime between when he was last seen leaving the NIU campus in Dekalb Il on June 5th to 6:30 a.m. Monday morning June 7th when officers first came upon his vehicle.
