Cordell Johnson, a 25-year-old African American male from Cairo, Illinois, was tragically killed in a shooting incident on January 22, 2020, in Carbondale, Illinois. The Carbondale Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 2200 block of North Illinois Avenue around 12:20 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Johnson unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds.
