Jamal Daveny, a 27-year-old African American male, was found unresponsive at approximately 6:05 a.m. on May 23, 2020, in a home located in the 5900 block of South Justine Street in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. The medical examiner's office identified him as Jamal Daveny of Bronzeville. He was fatally shot, marking the first homicide of that weekend.
