Vera Howard, a 23-year-old African American woman, was tragically shot in the head on June 6, 2020, in the South Chicago neighborhood. The incident occurred around 5:40 a.m. in the 8500 block of South Muskegon Avenue. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Vera succumbed to her injuries weeks later, on August 23, 2020.
