On June 16, 2020, 27-year-old Javell Brown was fatally shot in Calumet Park, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. According to police reports, four individuals exited a vehicle on West 127th Street and opened fire as Brown attempted to flee, striking him in the back. Brown's family disclosed that he had a learning disability and believed he was not involved in gang activities, suggesting the incident may have been a case of mistaken identity.
