The incident occurred in the Stony Island Park neighborhood, where Sean was involved in a fatal shootout. According to reports, Sean was selling "lean," a street name for a drink made with cough syrup, when he was approached by two individuals, Deontae Malone and Jeremiah Jordan, both 18 years old at the time.
