On September 12, 2020, at approximately 2 a.m., a tragic shooting occurred during a birthday party in the basement of an apartment building in the 100 block of North Pine Avenue in Chicago's Austin neighborhood. An argument erupted when a female attendee believed someone had addressed her as "baby girl," leading to a confrontation. During this dispute, 39-year-old Timmy Jordan, a resident of the building, became agitated and demanded that certain individuals leave, asserting his authority over
the premises. Before the guests could depart, Jordan produced a firearm and discharged multiple rounds into the crowd gathered along the driveway.
Among the victims was 35-year-old Michael Mickey, who sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and arm. Despite being mortally wounded, Mickey, a concealed carry license holder, managed to return fire, striking Jordan twice. Mickey was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Another victim, 47-year-old Lunyea Wilson, suffered gunshot wounds to her face and chest and also succumbed to her injuries at Stroger Hospital. Three additional individuals were injured: a 38-year-old man shot in the back, a 32-year-old woman shot in the leg, and a 30-year-old man shot in the thigh; all were reported in good condition following medical treatment.
Following the incident, Timmy Jordan was apprehended and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. At the time of the shooting, Jordan was on electronic monitoring for a prior gun-related offense and had a criminal history that included seven felony convictions. He was denied bail during his court appearance.
