Joel Jenkins, a 26-year-old African American man, was tragically shot and killed on September 15, 2020, at the Morse Red Line station in Rogers Park, Chicago. The incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. when someone in a passing vehicle fired shots at Jenkins, striking him in the abdomen. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead. Jenkins, who resided in the South Shore neighborhood, was known to frequent the Rogers Park area despite its increasing danger.
