His untimely death left a significant void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
On the evening of September 16, 2020, Adam Samuel Lique was shot multiple times in the Albany Park
neighborhood of Chicago. The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. in the 3600 block of West Lawrence Avenue. Adam was standing on the sidewalk in front of a Metro PCS store when a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Prezila Apreza, slowed down, allowing Maverick Cela to fire at least nine 9-mm rounds from the back seat. Adam was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The shooting was captured by a Chicago police POD camera, which provided crucial evidence in the investigation.
Following the incident, Maverick Cela, 19, and Prezila Apreza, 20, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Adam's death. The investigation revealed that Apreza had driven Cela to the scene of the crime and had changed the Trailblazer’s license plates before and after the shooting. Cela was identified as the gunman by a witness who was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle at the time of the shooting. Both suspects were arrested without incident and faced legal proceedings for their involvement in the murder.
