Rev. Kenneth Burks, a 56-year-old African American pastor, was tragically shot to death on October 31, 2020, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago. He was sitting in a vehicle in the 3300 block of West Huron Street when someone in another vehicle pulled up next to him and opened fire. Burks was struck in the head and arm and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
