KaySean Maurice Thomas, a 28-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on November 22, 2020, in Chicago, IL. The incident occurred in the Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side of Chicago. Around 12:40 a.m., KaySean and a group of individuals were standing on a sidewalk in the 700 block of East 101st Street when an unknown assailant opened fire. KaySean sustained gunshot wounds to his right arm and body.
Despite being transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries.
The shooting also resulted in injuries to three other individuals. A 30-year-old woman was struck in the right leg and was listed in fair condition, while another 30-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to her body and was in good condition. Additionally, a 25-year-old man was shot in the left foot and received treatment at Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, with Area Two detectives actively working on the case. The lack of immediate suspects or arrests has left the community seeking answers and justice for KaySean and the other victims.
