Mario Palacios Jr., an 18-year-old Hispanic male from Aurora, Illinois, tragically passed away on January 11, 2021, after sustaining gunshot wounds on December 29, 2020. On the evening of December 29, Mario was driving on Aurora's East Side when he was shot. The incident caused him to crash his car in the 1000 block of Second Avenue. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported him to a local hospital in critical condition.
Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Loyola University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries nearly two weeks later.
Following Mario's death, the Aurora Police Department launched a homicide investigation. Officers are actively seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made, and there are no publicly identified suspects. The police have urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact their Investigations Division.
