Hispanic/Latino male Arturo Alfaro Mateo, age 22, was fatally shot on March 10, 2021, on Chicago's Southwest Side. Shortly after 7 p.m., gunfire erupted in the 6200 block of South Komensky Avenue in West Lawn, striking two males in the abdomen.
Both were transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn; the 22-year-old, identified by the Cook County medical examiner as Arturo Alfaro Mateo, did not survive.
The shooting was immediately classified a homicide as detectives opened an investigation into the attack.
Reports published the same night, and the following morning noted no arrests, no publicly identified suspect, and no motive; authorities said only that Area detectives were investigating.
Subsequent memorial and obituary records confirm the victim as 22-year-old Arturo Alfaro Mateo and list the date and city of his death, but do not report any later arrests or charges connected to the case.
