Ashanti Wright, a 30-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on March 28, 2021, in Maywood, Illinois. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the 1200 block of South 16th Avenue. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, Ashanti Wright suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. An autopsy confirmed that her death was a homicide.
