Dyanla DeDe Rainey, a 22-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on July 24, 2022, in Maywood, Illinois. Dyanla, affectionately known as "DeDe," was a former standout basketball player at Marshall High School, where she and her twin sister, Miyanda, led their team to the Class 2A girls basketball state championship in 2018. The sisters had recently moved to Maywood to expand their successful daycare business.
