Johnny Montgomery, a 40-year-old man from Markham, was fatally shot on April 4, 2021, in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. He was found in the 6800 block of South Throop Street with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Despite being rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Cook County medical examiner's office ruled his death a homicide.
