Seventeen-year-old Devion Ward, an African American male, was tragically killed on April 9, 2021, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the Wentworth Gardens development, where Devion and two other individuals were sitting in a parked vehicle around 9:45 p.m. A black Dodge Durango approached their vehicle, and two unidentified males exited the SUV and began shooting at the victims' vehicle.
Devion was shot in the back and was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he later died.
The shooting also injured two other individuals. A 16-year-old male, who sustained a graze wound to the head, was initially listed in critical condition before being transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Another victim, estimated to be between 18 and 20 years old, was shot in the chest and was also listed in critical condition before being taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the suspects remain unidentified. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives working to gather more information and identify the perpetrators.
