Trooper Gerald Mason, a 36-year-old African American male, tragically died on October 1, 2021, in Chicago, Illinois. He was found with a single gunshot wound in his squad car on the Dan Ryan Expressway. Initially, the circumstances surrounding his death were unclear, prompting an investigation by the Illinois State Police.
