Death by Force

Laniyah Murphy, a 20-year-old Black woman from Chicago, Illinois, was tragically shot and killed on January 4, 2022. Murphy was a dedicated anti-violence activist who had been involved with St. Sabina Catholic Church's youth programs since her childhood. She was a member of the B.R.A.V.E. (Bold Resistance Against Violence Everywhere) Youth Leaders, a group focused on violence prevention. Murphy was also a student at Governors State University, where she was pursuing a degree in sociology.
