Cortez Barber, a 17-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on May 19, 2022, in the West Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. when Cortez was in a vehicle on the 11700 block of South Wentworth Avenue. He suffered a gunshot wound to his body and was subsequently transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.
