Davante T. Calhoun-Jackson, a 25-year-old African American male from Danville, Illinois, tragically lost his life on May 21, 2022. The incident occurred on a Saturday night when Danville Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 600 block of Chandler Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Davante T. Calhoun-Jackson lying on the ground on nearby Grant Street with a gunshot wound to his torso.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead by hospital staff shortly after arrival.
The Vermilion County Coroner, Jane McFadden, confirmed the identity of the victim and stated that an autopsy had been performed. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with the Danville Police Department and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office actively seeking information from the public. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the crime to contact the Danville Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
