Ernie Kirkland, a 41-year-old African American male, was tragically shot to death on June 4, 2022, in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago, IL. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of West Grenshaw Street. According to the Chicago police, Ernie Kirkland was in the back of a home when someone fired shots, striking him in the back. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by area detectives.
