On June 29, 2022, Deontay M. Tyler, a 24-year-old African American male, was found dead in a rental home in Kankakee, Illinois. He was one of three men discovered with apparent gunshot wounds inside the residence. The other victims were identified as Kyle M. Washington, 25, and Malcolm D. Murray, 27. The discovery was made after a relative of one of the men called the police around 2 p.m. upon finding the bodies in the upstairs apartment of the two-flat home on West Merchant Street.
