Darrell L. Simmons, a 36-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on December 30, 2021, in Kankakee, Illinois. The incident occurred in an apartment located in the 300-block of North Harrison Avenue. According to police reports, the shooting was drug-related, and Simmons was specifically targeted. He was one of two men shot during the incident. Despite being rushed to AMITA Health St. Mary's Hospital, Simmons succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
