Irving Ibarez, an 18-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on August 1, 2022, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the Galewood neighborhood on the Northwest Side of Chicago. According to reports, Irving was inside a vehicle around 7:35 p.m. in the 2100 block of North Natchez Avenue when he was struck in the chest by gunfire. In an attempt to flee, Irving reversed his vehicle, but he was shot once in the chest and succumbed to his injuries.
Alexsandro Hernandez was charged with one count each of attempted robbery and felony murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Irving Ibarez. During the bond hearing, it was revealed that Hernandez was out on bail for a previous weapons charge at the time of the incident. Prosecutors also mentioned that two other individuals were involved in the crime and were being sought by authorities. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying the suspects, as it captured the events leading up to and following the shooting. Hernandez was seen obtaining masks and gloves from an AutoZone store before the incident, and the Nissan Murano was traced back to the same location.
Further investigation led to the arrest of a 16-year-old boy, who was also charged with first-degree murder in the case. The juvenile, who had two active gun cases and was on probation for a previous felony gun charge, was identified as one of the accomplices. Prosecutors alleged that the juvenile had agreed to sell a gun to Irving Ibarez for $400, but the transaction was a setup to rob him. The juvenile entered Irving's vehicle and, upon seeing Hernandez approach with a gun, shot Irving in the chest as he attempted to escape.
