Emmett Adams, a 26 year old Black male from Chicago, was shot on the night of September 12, 2019, in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side.
Police responding to a ShotSpotter alert found him unresponsive on a sidewalk in the 3700 block of West Flournoy Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
After nearly two weeks in the hospital, he was pronounced dead; the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide caused by complications of multiple gunshot wounds.
A Chicago Sun-Times report published on September 25, 2019, stated he was pronounced dead on Tuesday at Mount Sinai while memorial notices circulated online mark the date as September 23, 2019.
Authorities did not announce an arrest or publicly identify any suspects in connection with the shooting in the days following the attack.
