Tavares Davis, a 41-year-old African American man, was tragically shot and killed on August 2, 2022, in Dolton, Illinois. Known affectionately as the "Funnel Cake Man," Davis was a beloved local entrepreneur who, along with his wife, operated successful funnel cake businesses at Orland Square Mall in Orland Park and Southlake Mall in Merrillville.
