Shanita Fennell, a 24-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on September 1, 2022, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, specifically in the 1600 block of West 79th Street. Shanita was seated in a parked car when a red SUV drove by, and an individual inside the vehicle opened fire.
