Joshua Correa, a 42-year-old Black man, was found dead on September 19, 2022, in an apartment in the 1100 block of Reading Drive in Montgomery, Illinois. It was early afternoon when police and emergency responders were called in—an urgent check that quickly turned grim as officers discovered him unresponsive inside the residence. Coroner’s deputies arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene, while investigators moved in to secure the area and begin piecing together what had happened.
