Curtis Gatewood, a 17-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on October 11, 2022, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the South Shore neighborhood, specifically in the 1900 block of East 79th Street, at approximately 8:40 a.m. Curtis was on his way to school when he was followed by an unknown assailant who opened fire, shooting him multiple times. He was subsequently transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
