Nizeri L. Carter, an 18-year-old African American woman from Champaign, Illinois, tragically lost her life on November 4, 2022. She was found with multiple gunshot wounds while walking along Elm Street in Champaign. Despite being rushed to Carle Foundation Hospital and receiving intensive care, she succumbed to her injuries later that evening. The Champaign County Coroner confirmed her death and an autopsy was scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
