On December 9, 2024, at approximately 7:49 PM, 21-year-old Heaven Mariah Antionette Hope was fatally shot in the 2400 block of West Springfield Avenue in Champaign, Illinois. She was entering a business when an assailant opened fire, striking her multiple times. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital at 8:48 PM.
