In the spring of 1979, the community of Glynn County, Georgia, was shaken by the sudden and tragic death of one of its own. Charles Lee Herrington Sr., a 30-year-old Deputy Sheriff with the Glynn County Sheriff's Office, was killed in the line of duty on April 17th of that year. He had been with the sheriff's office for three years, a time during which he dedicated himself to serving and protecting the citizens of his county.
