On December 7, 1995, 23-year-old Jerry Jackson, a Black construction worker from Atlanta, Georgia, was fatally shot by Atlanta police officer Waine Pinckney. The incident occurred in the morning hours when Jackson and his friends were at a motorcycle shop on Marietta Street. According to reports, plainclothes officers, including Pinckney, approached Jackson and his companions, suspecting them of criminal activity.
