In the quiet town of Dawsonville, Georgia, a tragedy unfolded on July 8, 2015, ending the life of 28-year-old Erin Niccole LeFevre Jones. A dedicated mother and a respected Forsyth County 911 communications supervisor, her death was a devastating loss to her family, friends, and colleagues.
The harrowing events began to unravel just after 1 p.m. when Jones made a frantic 911 call from her home on Maple Hill Drive. In a state of distress, she reported to her own colleagues that there was someone with a gun. The call took a terrifying turn when the operators heard gunshots in the background. Deputies were immediately dispatched and arrived at the residence within a minute of the call, where they heard another gunshot from inside the home.
Faced with a volatile and dangerous situation, and with the initial belief that it could be a hostage scenario, law enforcement established a perimeter around the house. The possibility that children might be inside prompted the deputies to make a swift and critical decision to breach the front door rather than wait for the SWAT team to arrive.
Upon entering the home, the deputies discovered a grim scene. Erin Jones was found deceased on the second floor of the residence. On the first floor, they found the body of her 43-year-old live-in boyfriend, David Geyer II. The investigation concluded that Geyer shot and killed Jones before taking his own life as officers were arriving. Thankfully, the couple's children were not present at the home at the time of the incident. Authorities investigated the case as a murder-suicide. As the sole suspect in Jones's death was also deceased, no arrests were made.
