In the early morning hours of September 17, 2015, the city of Waycross, Georgia, was rocked by a brutal act of violence that claimed the lives of two people. Alonzo Jeffery Brown, a 41-year-old male, and his live-in girlfriend, 31-year-old Yolanda Yvette Faison, were shot and killed in what authorities described as a home invasion. The incident occurred at their residence in the 900 block of Glenmore Avenue.
The Waycross Police Department responded to a call around 1:30 a.m. reporting a robbery in progress. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of Brown and Faison. Tragically, four children, all under the age of 14, were present in the home at the time of the killings. The children, who belonged to Faison, were unharmed and were subsequently placed in the care of family members.
In the immediate aftermath of the double murder, law enforcement began a search for two male suspects. Descriptions of the wanted individuals were released to the public, detailing them as having a skinny build with no hair or low-cut hair, and last seen wearing black pants and white shirts. The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear to investigators.
Family members of the victims were left devastated and searching for answers. Brown was described by his sister as a good man who would give the shirt off his back and a father to 15 children. The bodies of both Brown and Faison were sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for further examination.
