In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Albany, Georgia, the life of 40-year-old Tony Carter was tragically cut short. On March 6, 2016, Carter was at the Apple Jax Bar and Lounge located at 1303 E. Broad Ave. At approximately 1:34 a.m., a single gunshot pierced the air, striking Carter in the upper part of his body. The wound proved to be fatal, marking the first homicide in Albany for that year.
