In the late hours of March 12, 2016, 21-year-old Davon Adams, an African American male, was out with friends at an entertainment center in Norcross, Georgia. Later that evening, he and his friends drove to the Bryant Park Apartments on Hillandale Drive. The reason for their visit to the apartment complex remains unclear. In the early morning hours of March 13, 2016, the Gwinnett County Police Department received a 911 call about a person down in the parking lot of the complex.
Upon their arrival at approximately 1:41 a.m., officers discovered Davon Adams lying in the parking lot near the 6500 building with an apparent gunshot wound. Despite attempts by the officers to render aid until paramedics arrived, Adams was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into his death was immediately launched, with detectives seeking to understand the motive behind the shooting and to identify any potential suspects.
In the weeks that followed, the Gwinnett County Police continued their investigation into the homicide. With no arrests made, Adams's family, described as devastated by their loss, played an active role in seeking justice. A month after his death, in hopes of generating new leads, Crime Stoppers increased the reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case to $5,000. Law enforcement officials and the family urged anyone with information to come forward. At the time of the last reports, the case remained unsolved, with no suspects publicly identified or in custody.
