In the early evening of January 23, 2011, Antonio Lamont Lee, a 36-year-old Black man, was waiting in his 2010 Acura sedan at a traffic light in the 1400 block of East Monument Street in Baltimore, Maryland. Suddenly, a white van pulled up alongside his vehicle, and its occupants opened fire. Lee was struck by multiple gunshots.
An officer discovered Lee slumped over the passenger seat of his car. He was rushed to the nearby Johns Hopkins Hospital, just a block from the scene of the shooting, where he was pronounced dead. At the time of his death, Lee, a resident of the 1800 block of North Bentalou Street, was on parole.
The investigation into Antonio Lamont Lee's murder proved to be challenging for detectives.
