In the late hours of February 6, 2017, a black Ford Mustang pulled up to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital's Emergency Center in Albany, Georgia. Inside the vehicle was 26-year-old Brian Jeremy White, who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to his upper body. The unidentified individuals who dropped him off quickly departed, leaving hospital staff to attend to White. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased by the time police arrived at 10:06 p.m.

The initial investigation into the death of the male victim revealed that the shooting had occurred inside an apartment located at 823 Byron Road and was the result of a robbery gone wrong. For weeks, the case generated very few leads, prompting Brian's mother, Brenda White, to make a public and emotional plea for assistance in identifying her son's killer. She spoke of the profound loss of her only son and urged anyone with information to come forward to the authorities.

Following Brenda White's heartfelt appeal, crucial tip information emerged that led to a significant breakthrough in the case. In May 2017, the Albany Police Department announced the arrests of three men in connection with the fatal shooting. The suspects were identified as 23-year-old Qu'Ron Buchanan, 19-year-old Raheem Wright, and 19-year-old Angelo Jackson. All three individuals were charged with the murder of Brian White. At the time of the charges, Buchanan was already incarcerated in the Lee County Jail on unrelated charges, while Wright and Jackson were being held in the Dougherty County Jail.
