Jesse Thomas, a 17-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on May 13, 2017, during a college acceptance party hosted by his cousin in McDonough, Georgia. Jesse, a star basketball player at Stockbridge High School, had recently attended prom and was set to graduate on May 26, just a day before his 18th birthday. He had been accepted to Indian River State College in Florida, where he planned to join the basketball team as a walk-on.
