In the quiet neighborhood of Pembrooke Park in McDonough, Georgia, a tragedy unfolded that would shatter the community's sense of peace. On the afternoon of January 30, 2020, the body of 24-year-old Voiese Pinn, a male resident of McDonough, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. His body was found under a pavilion near the neighborhood's swimming pool and tennis courts by a resident out walking their dog.
The investigation into Pinn's death quickly gained momentum as Henry County police began their work. They soon released a photo of a person of interest, captured by a doorbell camera, showing a man in a hoodie. This individual was later identified as Princeton Mitchell-Johnson, a 27-year-old man who was not only a resident of the same subdivision but also described as Pinn's best friend.
The narrative of the crime that emerged was a chilling betrayal of friendship. On the night of January 29, 2020, Mitchell-Johnson contacted Pinn via FaceTime, and the two arranged to meet at the neighborhood pavilion. During this meeting, Mitchell-Johnson produced a. 38 revolver and shot Pinn three times, with one bullet striking him in the head and two in the side. Investigators later determined that any of the three shots would have been fatal.
Less than a month after the discovery of Pinn's body, on February 24, 2020, Princeton Mitchell-Johnson was arrested and charged with Pinn's murder. A search of Mitchell-Johnson's home uncovered the illegally purchased revolver used in the killing in his bedroom. Forensic analysis confirmed that the bullets found at the scene and in Pinn's body were fired from this weapon.
In March 2023, a Henry County jury found Princeton Mitchell-Johnson guilty on two counts of felony murder, as well as aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. For his crimes, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 15 years.
