In the summer of 2011, a violent shooting shattered a Southwest Baltimore neighborhood, leaving one man dead and five others wounded. The deceased was identified as Charles Michael Lessane, a 55-year-old male. On the afternoon of June 16, 2011, Lessane and five other men were gathered on the front porch of a home in the 500 block of Denison Street when at least one gunman, possibly two, opened fire on the group without warning. Lessane was the only one to succumb to his injuries in the attack.
