In the late hours of a Sunday in March 2018, a house party on Ibex Street in Macon, Georgia, turned into a scene of violence that would claim the life of 21-year-old Monterrius Malik Dugger. An argument erupted at the gathering, which was reportedly being held at a 'liquor house,' a location known for the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages. The dispute quickly escalated, leading to gunfire. Dugger was struck twice in the chest. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries on March 11, 2018. Two other individuals were also wounded in the shooting but were reported to be in stable condition.
In the days following the fatal shooting, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office identified 23-year-old Antonio DE'Juan 'Caesar' Walker as the primary suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and on the Wednesday following the incident, Walker surrendered to the authorities. He was subsequently charged with one count of murder and three counts of aggravated assault, in addition to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a probation violation.
By June of the same year, a Bibb County grand jury handed down an indictment against Antonio Walker, charging him with six counts, including malice murder and felony murder. Walker was held in the Bibb County jail without bond as the legal proceedings against him commenced. The case highlighted ongoing concerns about violence and illegal activities on Ibex Street, prompting local law enforcement to engage with the community to address safety issues in the neighborhood.
