In the quiet community of Chester, Georgia, a concerned neighbor's request for a welfare check led to a grim discovery. On a Wednesday in April 2018, a Dodge County deputy entered the home of Everett “Wendell” Williams, 65, and his wife, Jain Williams, 60, to find the couple deceased. The scene within the residence told a story of violence; both had sustained what appeared to be shotgun wounds.
The investigation that followed quickly pointed to a robbery that had escalated to a
double homicide. Authorities determined that guns and a car were missing from the couple's home. The sense of security in the small town was shaken as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation joined the Dodge County Sheriff's Office in the search for those responsible for this violent act.
Within a short period, law enforcement officials made several arrests in connection with the murders. Four teenagers were taken into custody and faced murder charges for their alleged roles in the deaths of Wendell and Jain Williams. The suspects included 19-year-old Kojak Thomas Jr., a 17-year-old male, and two 16-year-old males.
