In the early days of 2019, a verbal dispute in Jonesboro, Georgia, escalated into a fatal act of violence that cut short the life of 21-year-old Dontavius Maurice Morrison. On January 2nd, the young man was shot and killed, an event that would quickly unfold into a story of a broader criminal enterprise. The male victim's death set off an investigation that would lead to the swift identification of a primary suspect and unravel a series of other violent crimes.
Authorities identified 21-year-old Ashanti Leandrea Dorsey as the individual who allegedly shot Morrison. The altercation and subsequent shooting took place on Lakeview Way. In the wake of the incident, Dorsey was placed at the top of the Clayton County Sheriff's Top 10 Most Wanted List, a distinction that made her the first woman to hold the number one position. Investigators described Dorsey as a known prostitute who was also a suspect in a string of robberies targeting men who had solicited her services online.
Shortly after being named the county's most wanted, Dorsey was apprehended. Her arrest brought to light her alleged involvement in a more extensive crime ring. Dorsey, along with Kiera Williams and Cameron Jones, was implicated in a scheme that involved luring men with the promise of sex with the intent to rob and, in some cases, murder them. Dorsey was charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in connection with Dontavius Morrison's death and was taken to the Clayton County jail.
The investigation into Dorsey and her associates revealed their alleged connection to other homicides. While Dorsey was charged with the murder of her boyfriend, Dontavius Morrison, she and her accomplices were also suspects in the separate murders of Mario Rashad Edwards and Roderick Crawford. In November 2024, Ashanti Leandrea Dorsey was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for her role in the December 2018 murder of Mario Edwards.
