In the small town of Morganton, Georgia, a quiet community was shaken by a tragic event that unfolded on March 4, 2019. On that day, 3-year-old Ethan Daniel Jackson, a male, was found deceased alongside his mother, Amber Marie Jackson, age 31. Both had suffered fatal gunshot wounds and were discovered on the front steps of their apartment on Underwood Road. Ethan was a student at Mountain Area Christian Academy.
At the scene, law enforcement also found Joshua Lee Fults, 35, who was Amber Jackson's boyfriend. Fults was suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken into custody at the scene and airlifted to a medical facility where he remained in critical condition. The Fannin County Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant for Fults, charging him with the murder of Amber Jackson, with additional charges expected.

In June of the previous year, Amber Jackson had called 911, expressing fear for her and her young son's safety, citing Fults' violent past.
